Pedalheads Trail

Are your kids riding without training wheels, but not yet ready or interested to go on the road? Build a sense of fun and exploration in one of our Trail riding camps! Have them ride on various surfaces and develop their riding skills. A great option for kids looking for more riding space and a bit more adventure.

All our trail camps run for three hours per day for typically 5 days.

Intro to Trail

Trail 1 - Intro to Trail
4-6 years old

Focused on FUN and EXPLORATION, these campers will get to explore nearby local areas by riding along various bike paths and trails. Campers will be introduced to riding on different surfaces and develop their skills, such as steering, control and riding in a group.  Campers will also learn about trail etiquette, how to bike safely and develop their stamina throughout the week.

To register for this trail, kids must already be 4 years old

Requirements

  • Skill:
  • Ride independently
  • Start pedaling on first try
  • Stop without skidding
  • Gear:
  • 14" + bike
  • Coaster brakes OK, hand brakes preferred
  • No training wheels
  • Backpack with water bottle or hydration pack
  • Properly fitted helmet
  • Nut-free snack
  • Suggested Equipment:
  • Spare bike tube

Bike Control

Trail 2 - Bike Control
7-10 years old

In this trail, we GET GOING on the trails! Campers will ride on a variety of surfaces, develop their skills going up and down hills using their gears and brakes effectively, learn about trail etiquette, and be safely introduced to minor features depending on what is available in your area (ie. roots, small rocks).

To register in this trail, kids must be turning 7 by the end of the calendar year.

  • Must be able to use front & back hand brakes
  • Can currently ride 5kms on easy trails
  • Gear:
  • 16” + bike
  • Hand brakes
  • Gears
  • Backpack with water bottle or hydration pack
  • Properly fitted helmet
  • Nut-free snack

  • Spare bike tube
  • Bike gloves
Intro to Obstacles

Trail 3 - Intro to Obstacles
7-10 years old

In this trail, campers get to ADVENTURE by tackling local trails! The focus will be to practice the skills to safely ready campers for riding intermediate trails in your area and ensure campers know proper trail etiquette. This will include developing skills such as a camper’s comfort riding on various surfaces, basic cornering and pumping, obstacle and hazard dodging, uphill and downhill riding, introducing small features, and going on longer rides all while being safe.

To register for this trail, kids must already be 7 years old and it is recommended that kids first complete Trail 2.

Requirements

  • Skill:
  • Can ride 10km comfortably
  • A desire to be exposed to small features and uneven terrain (roots & rocks)
  • Gear:
  • 16” + bike
  • Front and back hand brakes
  • Gears
  • Backpack with water bottle or hydration pack
  • Properly fitted helmet
  • Nut-free snack
  • Suggested Equipment:
  • Spare bike tube
  • Knee pads and gloves recommended
  • Front suspension recommended
Technical Riding

Trail 4 - Technical Riding
9-12 years old

In this level, campers SHRED the trails and must be comfortable with bike handling skills that will allow them to safely focus on developing intermediate mountain bike techniques. They will be gaining confidence by tackling technical trails, both up and down, ladder bridges and other small to medium features. We will ensure campers continuously gain trail etiquette knowledge and ride within their limits.

To register for this level, kids must already be 9 years old. We strongly suggest that campers complete Level 3 Trail before this level (or have been exposed to easy small features and basic intermediate terrain).

To register for this trail, kids must already be 7 years old and it is recommended that kids first complete Trail 2.

Swim + Trail Combo

Trail/Swim Combo Camp

Exclusively located in West Vancouver at Park Royal Mall, this program combines a half-day Trail camp with a two-hour Swim camp at our brand new Pedalheads pool. Campers must be 4 by the start of camp and must be able to confidently ride their bikes without training wheels. The trails used for this program will be relatively flat, and less technical than our typical Trail camp options on the North Shore. During the biking portion, campers will explore the paved Spirit and Capilano Pacific Trails stretching from Ambleside Park to Lonsdale Quay. Campers will be split into two groups based on age: 4-5 and 6-9.

2021 Trail/Swim Combo camps will run weekly from July-August: 9:00am-4:00pm
